Maintenance

Oil

Regularly check the oil level on your moped and change the oil at frequent intervals.

Brakes

Check the brakes individually. Their application must be firm, and must be fully applied without the lever or pedal reaching its full travel. They must also free off completely when the lever or pedal is released, and allow the wheels to turn freely without drag.

Lights

Check that all lights, brake lights and indicators work. Also check that the horn works.

Chain

If your bike chain looks dry apply a quick squirt of aerosol chain lube.

If the chain looks too slack adjust the tension as soon as possible.

Tyres

Check your tyre pressure regularly. It is very important to maintain proper air pressure, since a moped only has two wheels and this can lead more easily to a loss of control of the vehicle. Always check the tyre pressure with the tyres cold, never after riding, as the pressure increases when tyres are hot.
